STAGE MOMS is a collaborative stage design by Sammi Carr and Laura Gordon. Both living and working from Dharawal country, they routinely engage in parallel play and art-making, with intermittent bike rides to the beach down the road.

STAGE MOMS was designed and built by two dancefloor aficianados, with a desire to level-up the party. A plywood-painted DJ booth surround, with hand-painted panels wrapping around and above the decks, turns the technical gear into a dynamic, intentional centrepiece rather than equipment sitting on a trestle table. A DJ setup can be a living canvas and a functional rig.

It's not just a person behind the gear; it's a moment; it's theatre.

Through their experimental open-ended process, the spritely coloured characters emerged from a world not so far away. Inspired by the likes of Shirley Barber, P.D. Eastman and Graeme Base, their illustrations dare dance-floor goers and audiences to dive into their universe and fire up their imagination.
